Weeknotes for week 18, 2024
Focus for this week is getting a good start on WeblogPoMo, and kickstarting an exercise habit with the Couch to 5k program.
Monday
- Gym time! Helped by a sunny morning, but it was still a bit of a drag to get out of the house
- Reminded by a failure in my weekly link check build job on one band's site that I should add this for the rest of my bands. I use the GitHub Action from Lychee, on a weekly cron.
- Planted some seeds in my garden, mostly lettuce and parsley for me and the guinea pigs to eat.
Tuesday
- Enjoying the good weather again, it has such an impact on my mood.
- Gathering a bunch more ideas in preparation for #WeblogPoMo2024, and thinking about things I can do to make this into a writing habit. Finally got around to reading this article from Ness labs for inspiration, which had been in my read later for like 6 weeks.
- having a first think about learning Phoenix as the tech stack for a new side project.
Wednesday
- Blog writing time! I'm attempting to take part in WeblogPoMo, and today went ok. I managed to get my writing and publishing done first thing in the morning before starting the rest of my tasks.
- diving into getting elixir and phoenix set up, and exploring some tutorials.
Thursday
- Noticed a problem with the car, which wiped out my whole afternoon and evening trying to sort out some transport for my partner James to get to his work tomorrow.
Friday
- James is away from this afternoon until Monday doing sound at a small folk festival. I couldn't go because I have a gig tomorrow. I will miss him lots.
- catching up on WeblogPoMo, having forgotten to publish yesterday.
Saturday
- Playing for a ceilidh in the evening, piano in a friend's band. Ceilidhs are so much less stressful than last week's contra, much more back in my comfort zone. Still absolutely wiped out after though.
- spinning 200g of dyed merino I've had for ages and been too scared to ruin. It went a lot smoother than expected.
Sunday
- struggling for focus and motivation, mostly knitting and catching up on my YouTube backlog. I suck at existing without some routine, and between car trouble, the bank holiday and James being away, everything has fallen apart a bit.
- plyed the singles I spun yesterday, fairly happy with the resulting yarn, but ran out of energy to wash and finish it.
- forced myself to have a bath and do at least some writing. Thankful for my smooth obsidian setup that means I can write anywhere on my phone and it will be synced everywhere.
Feeling frustrated at myself for already failing to post every day for WeblogPoMo. I have to be really careful not to fall into all-or-nothing thinking and just give up completely. The challenge does say explicitly "You will post as much as you can, ideally daily, but we all have lives, so go easy on yourself. This is meant to be fun!".
